The festival is growing and enriching with activities and initiatives.
In 2016, we launched the competition The Best Book of Zaporizhzhia Book Toloka. The Old Lion Publishing, Smoloskyp, ArtHuss, Vivat, Alemak, and Dyke Pole publishing houses became its first winners.
The All-Ukrainian Forum of Participatory Projects for culture managers was held during Toloka’s days as a part of the Culture and Education Academy under the Goethe Institute in Ukraine.
Also, the educational program Space of Opportunities for activists among internally displaced persons was conducted with the support of German federal company GIZ.
Other social projects
- Homeless, or Ukraine is My Home – a thematic photo exhibition, discussions and live-stories of Zaporizhzhia “street people” arranged in a partnership with local charitable funds and NGOs (2016).
- (Dis)abled City – a discussion platform held with the support of Zaporizhzhia journalists, volunteers, and activists from people with special needs to raise the public awareness about the problems of the city’s accessibility.
- Readings of contemporary Polish poetry in sign language curated by actors of the Integration Theatre Show Me (2015).
We are open to cooperation, new ideas and joint projects!
We are in progress
We aspire each event within Zaporizhzhia Book Toloka to become a source of creative energy and inspiration for both the visitors and the participants – publishers, authors, co-organizers and partners.
We believe that this approach allowed us to reach the most important results within two years – the recognition and trust of those who have already cooperated with us, and the faith of those who have known about us and, we hope, are going to join the Festival in 2017.
