Oleg Shynkarenko who is the nominee of the Taras Shevchenko Prize will visit Zaporizhzhia with the presentation of his new books. The meeting with the writer will be held on 24 May at 19:00, at the Center for the Arts “Art-Space” (Sobornyi Av., 142 | the lecture hall of the Zaporizhzhia Region Universal Scientific Library).
Oleg Shynkarenko is a journalist, writer and translator. The author is well-known among European media, particularly with his paradoxical novel Kaharlyk which was reviewed by The Guardian, The Economist, The Wire and Index of Censorship. His book First Ukrainian Robots (Luta Sprava, 2016) consists of satirical sketches in the style of Monty Python and Stanislaw Lem. Both works have been nominated for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize. His novel-pamphlet Skull (Cherep, in Ukrainian) which has just been published by Luta Sprava reveals the causes of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The writer is also a host of the Filosofskyi Baraban (Philosophical drum) podcast on Hromadske radio (Kyiv). As a journalist and critic, he cooperates with a number of Ukrainian media, as well as The Daily Beast (New York), Institute for War & Peace Reporting (London) and Future Challenges (Hamburg).
